Andrew started work as a junior engineer, quickly moving to the quantity surveying discipline with a contractor. Andrew graduated to Fellowship of the RICS via ONC in Building and the examinations of the Institute of Quantity Surveyors. In 1977 Andrew joined the Practice as Senior Quantity Surveyor, was elected a Junior Partner in 1981 and Full Partner in 1994. Andrew is experienced in all facets of Quantity Surveying and construction cost management on various projects up to the value of about £9million. Andrew has more recently specialised in expert advice based upon the Quantity Surveying discipline. Andrew has been the Partner in charge of a number of the Practice's recent work relating to projects for the construction of mosques and other notable buildings.

Expertise

Traditional Quantity Surveying: Andrew continues to receive appointments as nominated Quantity Surveyor under traditional and other systems of building procurement. Recent appointments include Angloco: office extension; Abu Bakar: community funded new mosque and landscape works funded by SRB and ERDF funding; Hillworth Lodge: redevelopment of hospital site into sheltered accommodation; St Marks: housing development; Peterborough: new mosque; Clemo MG Rover Dealership: site redevelopment acting as Employer’s Agent.

Financial Administration & Control: Andrew provides estimating, surveying, contractual advice, financial administration and project management services to contractors and specialist sub-contractors in the building, civil engineering and water industries.

Facilities Management: Andrew manages accounts for national and local contractors providing maintenance and repair services in the private and local authority sectors, and has an in depth knowledge of measured term contracts and current schedules of rates, both published and bespoke.

Debt Collection: As an extension of other services, or as a stand alone service Andrew ensures efficient recovery of outstanding debts and, for sub-contractors, the managed prompt collection of retention monies. When circumstances require, we will recommend the right level of legal intervention to assist in those stubborn cases.

Claims: Although not in vogue as the construction industry enjoys boom time and adjudication increases in use, Andrew has long experience of formulating negotiating and successfully recovering loss and expense claims arising from disruption and delay to projects and successfully defending against unfounded and unsubstantiated claims for money.

Insolvency: Andrew acts in conjunction with Liquidators, Receivers and Adminstrators bringing the necessary expertise to settle accounts and recover debts.


Expert Witness: An experienced Party Appointed Expert and Single Joint Expert with court room experience, Andrew has an excellent grasp of the legal and practical aspects of being an expert witness. Andrew provides clear, concise and accurate reports which are the foundation of the recent law reforms and has acted on instructions from law firms including recently from Beachcroft Wansbroughs, Irwin Mitchell, Hammond Suddards Edge,and Last Cawthra Feather.

Adjudication: Andrew is an experienced adjudicator and has been appointed and issued decisions following the Housing Grants Construction and Regeneration Act 1996. Andrew also acts on behalf of contractors and subcontractors successfully issuing and replying to adjudication notices and statements of case to ensure proper implementation of the payment and adjudication provisions as laid down in statute.
